Aloes and lavender

 Acrylics on board, 20 x 15 cm:

A somewhat experimental piece (I kind of channeled Irma Stern or something), and I cannot quite decide whether I like it or absolutely hate it. Time will tell!

Karee at the wall

 Acrylics on Masonite, 15 x 10 cm:

I currently live in the suburbs, which are in many ways rather boring from the perspective of visual interest. There are beautiful gardens, but here in South Africa such things are now all hidden behind high walls and electric fencing. What you can see is often blandly pretty rather than really striking. One exception, sometimes: street trees, particularly in older, more established suburbs where the trees have had time to mature a bit and develop character. And thus, I may just get it into my head to do some studies of them...

Sunbird and Protea Flower

More specifically, a greater double-banded sunbird. Acrylics on Masonite, 20 x 15 cm:

SOLD

The sunbirds (there are many species) are Africa's version of the hummingbirds of the Americas. despite their similar looks, they are not closely related. The sunbirds have a similar lifestyle though, and live on nectar and small insects.

Tomato and banana

Acrylics on Masonite, 15 x 20 cm:

I have been rather busy with bankers and bureaucrats, as well as some non-fine art projects (watch this space!). But finally had time for a quick painting again. This sort of small still life done from the result of a raid on the kitchen remains an old favorite genre of mine.

This item may be for sale on my Bid-or-Buy store
