Uncle Al

 Acrylics on Masonite, ACEO (= 3.5 x 2.5 inches):

SOLD

I have hardly ever tried portraiture before, so I don't know what possessed me to try it out at this scale - I was terrified the whole time. Art truly is 99% perspiration, and no more than 1% inspiration.

Lots of mini-paintings

I have been rather busy with all manner of things, but made time to squeeze in small paintings whenever I could, trying out various styles and techniques. These are all about ACEO size, i.e. about 65 x 90 mm, and they are fun and quick to complete. They also give one opportunity to quickly try out new ideas or techniques.

Nowadays I turn these into fridge magnets by simply sticking a magnet to the back. In this form they have been doing reasonably well at a local gallery. I think I may upload some to my Bid-or-buy store as well...

Grazing cow

Acrylics on Masonite, ACEO (= 2.5 x 3.5 inches, or 64 x 89 mm):

SOLD

It has been a while since I have done any painting; I have been busy working on a new children's book, which will hopefully be available some time in January 2020 - watch this space! But in the meantime, a little ACEO, just to keep me from going completely rusty.

Two small landscapes

Both in acrylics on Masonite, 10 x 15 cm:

Partly cloudy and mild:

When I was a kid, we did not have TV. We got the weather report on the radio, but through all those lazy summer days, it always seemed to be the same report: "Partly cloudy and mild, with scattered thunderstorms." You can't really go wrong with such a report in summer here.

Rain's coming:

SOLD

Over much of South Africa, rain is mostly in the form of summer afternoon storms rolling in from the south. It often creates this rather pleasing effect: you are standing in bright sunlight, but half the sky is already covered in dark, approaching clouds.

These items may be for sale on my Bid-or-Buy store.

Elephant testing the air

Acrylics on Masonite, 15 x 10 cm:

SOLD

Somewhat to my own surprise, I have indulged in my love of very small paintings again. I find it particularly amusing to paint an animal this huge on so small a scale.

Limpopo landscape

Acrylics on Masonite, 64 x 89 mm (= ACEO size, 2.5 x 3.5 inches):

SOLD

I nowadays seldom do very small pictures, but I wanted test a new varnish and didn't want to do it on a larger and more valuable picture in case the varnish ruins it!

This work may be for sale on my Bid-or-Buy store.

Country cottage

And now for something completely different. Country cottage, acrylic on board, ACEO size (= 2.5 x 3.5 inches, or 64 x 89 mm). And yes, light blazing from all the windows, a la Kinkade. Haven't done one of these in ages, and I had so much fun I think I'll do a whole series...
